That is why it is essential to keep a good and pleasing profile in order to succeed or in order to do well in ones area of business. There are many that are necessary or at least play an important role in its successful running, one such thing that many people may notice are the cars. Cars play an important role for a business, they can sometimes be the difference between the winning and losing of important contracts, tenders etc. They are kind of utilities that are missed when they are not there; in short, they are nowadays accessories that a business just cannot do without. So they are a must for any business. For businesspersons who cannot afford them, well! For them we have business car finance. Chill Out With A Summer Time Marketing Plan

By Bonnie Jo Davis Is your business experiencing a summer time slump? Traditionally only industries related to travel enjoy a boost in business during the warmer months. The rest of us tend to take vacations, clean up our desk and while away the time playing computer games while we wait for business to pick up. Summer time can and should be a time when business owners prepare for the marketing they will do for the rest of the year and handle tasks they have been putting off when business is brisk. Some of the marketing tasks that can be handled during the summer are: Turn previously dead leads into sales. Contact everyone who expressed an interest in your product or services but did not follow through. They may have more time to consider your offers during the summer and you might be able to reach them more easily if their secretary is on vacation. Create and begin to market that newsletter you always planned on starting. Write a press release related to summer time activities and send it to appropriate newspapers both on-line and off-line. Ask a few business associates to review and offer suggestions about your marketing materials. Update your materials to get them ready for the busier times ahead. Next start getting ready for the future with the following tasks: Write at least twelve articles related to your business and have them proofread and edited until they are polished. You will submit one article each month for the next year to appropriate publications. Create a web site marketing plan. Research web site promotion on the internet and create a list of items that you can work on for the next several months. Develop several contests for your web site visitors and newsletter subscribers that you can run regularly during the year. Prepare advertising text, rules and decide on prizes. Contact your local Chamber of Commerce and offer to speak at a fall or winter event. Write your speech and practice it until you feel comfortable working without notes. Research and budget for e-zine and newsletter advertising for the next twelve months. Set up a tickler file to remind you when to submit and pay for your ads. Grab a glass of lemonade and get started on using the summer months to your advantage. Implement just a few of the ideas in this article every summer and watch your sales soar all year round! Sandwiches, They’re Everywhere

By Maureen Sinclair If a rose by any other name would still be a rose, then a sandwich, by any other name would still be a sandwich. Common belief is that John Montague, the 4th Earl of Sandwich invented this culinary delight some time in the 18th century and while this isnt entirely accurate, its a topic for future discussion and for our present purpose, well just accept that belief at face value. Sandwiches are one of the marvels of the world. Ive never found anyone who doesnt like a sandwich of one sort or another. Sandwiches are found in all cultures. Sandwiches are served in fast food restaurants, in upscale restaurants, in low scale restaurants, in greasy spoons and of course, in our own kitchens. They are eaten for breakfast. Have you ever seen a fast food place that doesnt have its own version of a breakfast sandwich which the hungry eater can quickly grab from the drive thru window and wolf down while racing to work in the morning? Sandwiches are usually the preferred lunch time choice for most people and sandwiches are frequently eaten the last thing at night for those who dont like to go to bed hungry. In this day and age when most of us are racing from place to place all day long, the sandwich is often eaten for dinner too. That way, the family no longer has to waste time sitting down together to savor a meal lovingly put together by mom. Our supermarkets are very helpful to us in that they sell packages of sandwich meat ready to go. At one time, the sandwich was made up of the left overs from the previous nights dinner. Now, since many of us dont actually eat meals that allow for left overs this problem has been solved by these pre-packaged sandwich meats. While it is true that when food is placed between two pieces of bread, the result, since the 18th century, has been to call the result a sandwich we frequently find the sandwich called by other names. For example, we will generally just ask for a hamburger or a hotdog. Both the hamburger and the hotdog are served between two pieces of bread, but in their cases, we generally omit the word sandwich. However, that does not obviate the fact that they are both sandwiches. Another example of a sandwich called by another name is the hero which is generally some kind of meat surrounded by a loaf or half a loaf of Italian bread. My favorite hero is a meatball hero. This is generally three (or more) meatballs, squeezed between a half a loaf of hard, crispy Italian bread. A spicy tomato sauce is slavered over the meatballs which are then covered with mozzarella cheese and microwaved, just enough to lightly melt the cheese. There is also the hoagie, the Dagwood, the belly burner all of which are sandwiches. The names by which the common sandwich masquerades are almost endless, but no matter what they are called, when something is placed between two pieces of bread, it is still a sandwich. Everyone has their own favorite sandwich which is generally a concoction that only they will eat. One of my brothers, for example, will make a simple sandwich consisting solely of catsup put between two pieces of white bread. Someone else I know loves to put peanut butter on white bread (only white bread) over which he puts slices of banana. My personal favorite, and get ready to be impressed is one I generally make the day after Thanksgiving. I take two pieces of buttered white bread (only white bread) between which I squeeze slices of left over turkey, topped with left over stuffing, topped with left over cranberry sauce. Then, I take the whole thing and squeeze it, bite by bite, into my dainty mouth. Actually, when I think about it, and I dont believe that I am alone in this, I actually like the day after a big meal better than the feast day itself (Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter or whenever). All the hoopla accompanying these days is past, all the cooking is done and I am alone with the leftovers and my imagination and anything, or any combination of ingredients goes. And that is another fascination of the sandwich: any one can be a chef and creatively produce their own food masterpieces. So hail to the sandwich whatever you call it, whatever you place between two pieces of bread, whenever you eat it, the sandwich is a work of art: a rose by any other name is still a rose and a sandwich, by any other name is still a sandwich. To paraphrase a well known expression: what this world needs is a really good sandwich and as many of them as it can get. Maureen R. Start Planning for Your Backyard Water Garden or Pond

By Gerry Fung Water gardens are great focal points for any backyard With spring in the air, now is the time to start planning for your backyard garden. For many homeowners, a backyard pond is a perfect supplement to your existing layout. The trickling of water in the background is the ideal way to supplement the natural, serene and relaxing atmosphere that the outdoors should offer. A pond or water garden will likely become the focal point for your entire backyard. Backyard ponds and water gardens will attract birds, butterflies, wildlife, and family members. Ponds are usually small and no larger than 3 to 4 feet in diameter, and often can be used to raise fish. At night-time, a garden pond can be lit up with both surrounding and submersible lighting. An extravagant light show can be produced by projecting underwater lighting directly onto trickling or falling water. In the past, the installation of a water garden was a convoluted process that either involved the expense of a landscaper, or trial and error to perfect the art of pond installation. However, preformed pond kits are now available that can make pond installation relatively straightforward. Preformed pond kits are affordable, lessen the risk of mistakes, and come complete with all the accessories that you will need to complete a garden pond installation. Before purchasing a preformed pond kit, make sure that it fulfils all of your requirements. How large of a pond are you looking for? Do you want to raise fish? Would you like water to trickle down a waterfall? How long is the warranty on the pond kit? One preformed pond kit that comes highly recommended is the Algreen 180 gallon folding preformed pond kit. New to the Algreen line of products, this kit includes easy-to-follow instructions. The instructions minimize the effort required to install the pond, after a hole is dug. The pieces in the kit fit easily together and leave you ample flexibility to creatively position and landscape the area around the pond, according to your hearts desire. The 180 gallon kit comes complete with both a preformed pond shell and a preformed watercourse that is manufactured from a revolutionary rubber/plastic composite (this composite material is guaranteed to be more durable and resist wear more than any other existing preformed pond kits). The kit includes a powerful 792 gallon-per-hour SuperFlo pump with flow control; this pump is used to feed varying flows of water to both the watercourse and the built-in fountain. The pump is purposely oversized to allow it to channel water to your watercourse and fountain, and to accommodate fish in your pond. Up to 4 fountain heads are included with the kit, to allow you to vary your fountain according to your mood. An underwater light is also included free with the kit. This underwater light utilizes colored filters to shine luminous light from the bottom of your pond to accentuate the falling water from your fountain and/or your waterfall. Small backyard garden ponds are usually low maintenance. The occasional debris from your pond can usually be trapped with a mechanical pre-filter, which is included with the SuperFlo pump. However, if you decide to raise fish in your pond, it is recommended that you increase your filtration capacity. Because the pump is purposely oversized, this can be easily accomplished by upgrading your pre-filter to a larger filtration device. Optional filtration devices include the mechanical and biological SuperFlo submersible filter, or the Algreen pressurized filter. You will need to start planning for your water garden now in order to have it completed by spring. Before commencing any project, it is always recommended that you conduct research to learn as much as possible about the topic. Therefore, it is recommended that you use the early part of the season to read more about pond construction. Gerry Fung is the Vice President of GardenSuperMart, a garden pond installation resource. Recent International Innovations - Rules And Regulations To Operate And Clean Public Swimming Pools

By Ben Joseph Each country has different regulations in regards to operating cleaning, disinfecting and filtering public swimming pools. In Denmark for example the rules and regulations are extremely limited and the government shifts the responsibility to the swimming pool operators. In Germany the rules and regulations are written by the standards institute and each municipality adopts the rules it deems important. In France the regulations are dictated to all the provinces from the government, the rules are very detailed in regards to sanitary aspects, however, they are not technical. In Spain the regulations are dictated by the local municipalities and the rules are very similar to the ones in France. In the United states and England professional swimming pools unions write very detailed recommendations and the local health departments adopt these recommendations and add their own supplements. In the former soviet Union the rules and regulations are country wide, very specific and include operating rules and instructions. In recent years swimming pools operators around the world prefer to use ozone-generator (combined with chlorine) to disinfect the waters. Ozone in the water or in the air is dangerous to humans, therefore, disinfecting the water with ozone has to be done in a separate container and after the filtration and disinfection process is completed all the ozone has to be removed from the treated water before transferring them back to the swimming pool. A latest innovation is the ozone generator, the generator disinfect the water without the need for separate container, and the benefit is when this generator is used, a very minimal chemicals are needed to disinfect the water, which saves money in the long term, and there is no eyes irritation due to the low chlorine. Personal Visibility: How to Take Charge and Create Buzz for Yourself or Your Business

By Regina Barr Personal visibility is critical for success no matter what business arena you work in. Many women make the mistake that if they work hard and do good work, that they will be recognized for their efforts. This is just not so. Take a look around you at the people who seem to buzz with success, no matter what they do or what they touch. These are the people you read about in the paper and who seem to be at all of the right networking events and know all of the right people. They are also the people who are in demand to speak at events and whose articles appear in your local paper. What do these men or women know that you don’t? They have mastered the art of personal visibility. I spoke with a woman that fits this description shortly after she had signed on to do her own radio show with a local station. I asked her what her secret of success was in terms of personal visibility. The main thing she told me was that you can’t sit back and wait for visibility. Instead, you have to go out and find it. Here are some practical tips you can use: 1. Send News Releases: Send out a news release for anything noteworthy that you might do. Signed a new client? Appointed to a new board position? Remember, local papers are often searching for stories with a local angle. Be sure to include a photo. 2. Write Articles or Editorials: This is a great way to become recognized as an expert in your field. Remember to develop relationships with your local editors. Contact them with your ideas and help them when they are looking for resources. 3. Speak at local events: Many chambers of commerce, professional organizations and other non-profit organizations look for local speakers knowledgeable on a range of topics. Find the organizations that might be interested in your area of expertise and get on a panel or facilitate a program for them. 4. Allow reporters to interview and quote you: Reporters are always looking for third parties to corroborate or refute information that they include in their stories. Many women do not like to be quoted because they fear that their words will be misconstrued or misrepresented. Women need to get over this fear and make themselves more available to be quoted in public. This serves to position you as an expert in your field and gets your name into the public eye. 5. Volunteer for visible projects or committees: This can be either internally at your organization or externally within your community. Then use this opportunity to advantage by using tips 1-4 above. 6. Get nominated for an award or recognition list: Typically women sit back and wait to be nominated by someone. However, if there is an award or recognition that you think you are worthy of, let someone know that you are deserving and ask if they would be willing to nominate you. Even if you don’t win, you will still receive visibility. 7. Teach a college class or seminar: This allows you to get out in front of your peers or a target audience that you are interested in getting exposure from. This not only gives you visibility but may also provide you with your next business referral or job opportunity. These are just a few ideas. If you have other ideas, we’d love to hear about them. Email them to us at info@redladder.com and we will share them in next month’s newsletter. In the meantime, remember, to get ahead in business you need to take charge of your own visibility. For those that do, the possibilities for success are endless. Five Cost-Effective Ways to Market Your Small Business

By Cynthia Pinsonnault How many of your marketing goals for the year have been achieved, and what opportunities might still be out there? Here are five tips for putting your marketing budget to work in cost-effective ways that return the most on your investment. Word-of-Mouth — Word-of-mouth may be one of the most overlooked marketing tools, but the truth is that any company, big or small, benefits from the positive word-of-mouth generated by a good reputation. Prospects that come to your company through the recommendation of a friend or colleague are more likely to become customers and to stay loyal customers. How can you build word-of-mouth? To begin with, treat your customers well. Give them reasons to want to tell others about your company or product or service. Join professional organizations and Chambers of Commerce. And finally, ask your current customers to tell others about their experience with your company. (Just be sure it was a good experience.) Press Releases — Use press releases to tell people about new developments in your company, or announce recent accomplishments, announce a new product or new service, an award your company won, a big contract received, a new employee or employee promotion, and the list goes on. The benefit is that press releases are free and, depending on the publication, spread the word to a large audience. Direct Mail — Direct mail is a cost-effective way to target your marketing. Build or purchase a list of prospects that match your target demographics. Build the list. Always be looking for ways to add to your database of prospects. Don’t delete names because they didn’t buy the first time you sent them something. Build your list. Then mail to that list regularly. Things to send - Postcards. Postcards are inexpensive to produce and mail and get the message across quickly. You can use postcards to make company announcements similar to a press release, but targeted to your audience. - Letters. Another highly underrated marketing tool, letters to current customers can help build loyalty. Letters to prospective customers can implement a very specifically targeted message. And letters, in general, convey a sense of personal service. Niche Advertising — Find out what directories, trade and specialized publications, online and offline, are relevant to your profession, product or service and get listed. Look for opportunities to advertise in these specialized venues. The more your message is targeted to your specific audience, the better the return on your investment will be. Company Web Site — A Web Site can do a lot more than sell widgets. A good Web site will tell potential customers what they need to know about your company and how your product or service can solve their problems. It isn’t necessary to have a large and elaborate site. What is necessary is that you provide information that’s useful to the visitor in his decision-making. It doesn’t need lots of photos or animations or flashing messages. It needs to be easy to navigate, clear and easy to understand, and it needs to answer questions from the visitor’s point of view. A Web site can also be used to keep current customers up-to-date with new products and services offered. If only the above five tools were used consistently, a small company might never need any other marketing. The real trick is finding the right combination of marketing venues and tools, then consistently implementing them throughout the year. It’s not as important to be clever as it is to be consistent and persistent. Visit http://www.pinscreative.com to learn more about writer, designer and consultant, Cynthia Pinsonnault. The Money Making Secret of “The Toll Booth Position”

By Dan Kennedy Im a marketing consultant and at one of my client-companies, a company that, in less than 10 years, has gone from a $10 million to a $100 million dollar business one of the people I work with frequently has jokingly given herself the title, ‘Vice President, Back-End.’ Although that clearly opens her up to be the butt of many jokes, it does very accurately describe her very, very important area of responsibility, in direct marketing parlance. At least 80% of the companys profitability depends on her contributions. If the term “back-end” is new to you, it means everything you sell your customers after their initial purchase (that first order is called the “front-end”). For instance, lets say you sell instructional video tapes to golfers on how to play better. You advertise in golf magazines and your lead product is a $25 video on putting strategies. Thats your “front-end” because thats what people buy first. But then once people purchase that first video, you send them a catalog offering them over 50 other golf videos ranging in price from $50 to $99. Those follow-on videos are your “back-end.” In many businesses, there is a relatively brief period of time during which there are significant, exciting profits on the front-end, that is the very first sale to a customer. But that happy situation dissolves over time, as you “cream” the market. And, as you go deeper and deeper into a market, the cost of making the first sale (acquiring a customer) goes up and up. For instance, in the above example of the golf videos the first time you run a magazine ad you might pull 100 orders. But if you keep running it every month, your order volume will probably drop off steadily. Within six months, youd be lucky to be selling 30 videos from the same ad in the same magazine. As some point, it gets so high it is no longer practical to advertise and sell that product to that market. Nothing is forever. This fact of life is what mandates being smart about making all the money that you can from the back-end. The good news is that your satisfied customers are probably willing to buy other things from you — and they dont even have to be your own products/services. You can make deals with other companies to offer their products/services to your customers in exchange for a piece of the action. For instance, lets go back to our example of the golf video company. You might do a “joint venture” with a manufacturer of special golf clubs which sell for $1,500 a set. Youll mail a letter to your customers telling them how well these clubs will improve their golf game and youll get $750 on each order placed. If your customers trust you, theyll be much more likely to respond to your letter than they would be if the golf club manufacturer mailed to them directly. Of course you only want to recommend high-quality products and services which will be of value to your customers. But you get the idea. You could make similar deals with other companies who sell what golfers want — golf apparel, golf trip and excursion operators, even custom home builders who sell houses near golf courses. Theyd all happily pay you a ‘toll’ commission to sell their wares to your customers. No matter what your business, one of the most valuable assets you have is a list of satisfied customer, predisposed to buy from you again. When you control a sizable list of customers who bought from you, know your name/business name, are happy with what they bought and with the ensuing relationship … and are pre-disposed to read your mail and buy from you again, its like owning your own “toll booth.” A pioneer of direct marketing, Harvey Brody, taught me the power and value of getting into “The Toll Booth Position” and Ive been teaching it for years. Imagine owning your own toll booth on the highway near your city. Anybody who wants to get to the other side of that toll booth has to pass through its gates and pay you money. As the controller of a responsive customer list, thats exactly where you are; sitting there in your own toll booth and anybody who wants to get their appropriate product or service to those customers you control, has to pay you money. You can collect a toll through joint ventures, as described above wherein you do an endorsed mailing to your customers and get a piece of all sales that result. Or, if you build a list of 50,000 or more, through outright lists rentals. I have a number of clients who pay all their overhead expenses every year just with the checks they get from the list broker representing their list to others. I have often paid others to pass through their toll booths — and done so cheerfully. I have also been paid by others eager to get through my toll booth, to my customers, with my endorsement. In the direct marketing business, its a well-known fact that most of the profits is derived from back-end sales to existing customers. Yet outside that business, I rarely encounter a company which comes anywhere close to tapping the potential of establishing their own “toll booth position.” Get started building yours right now and start charging others to go down your road. Makeup Tips According To The Seasons - Introduction

By Michael Russell There is a concept in makeup now of listing it in terms of warm and cool. This can cover foundations, powders and even blushes. It comes from a system introduced a few decades back that can be loosely described as color coding. It was, in basic terms, a system where a person (mainly women but men too) could figure out how to choose their clothes and even makeup according to an individual’s skin complexion. Each skin complexion would match up with a particular season of the year. If a person had very fair skin tone, that person would be considered a “spring” and would match their clothes and even makeup to what was considered “spring” colors. If a person had a medium skin tone, that person would be considered a “summer” and would match their clothes and even makeup to what was considered “summer” colors. If a person had a more tan skin tone, that person would be considered a “fall” and would match their clothes and even makeup to what was considered “fall” colors. If a person had a more rich skin tone, that person would be considered a “winter” and would match their clothes and even makeup to what was considered “winter” colors. Books were written and home parties were hosted on this color coding technique. It was unique in that when a person thought they knew what “season” they were under, some people on a few occasion were surprised to find themselves under another “season”. It was assumed that people of an Ethnic background would automatically be classified as “winters”, but some Caucasian people quite often fell under this category as well. To give a general idea how this all worked, the season “winter” will be used in the following examples and suggestions. “Winters” would pick foundations under cool shades and with a rose base. Examples of cool foundation shades were rose and sand. Test a foundation on the jaw line to get the proper matching shade. Cover dark scars and blemishes with a cover stick in the cool shade category. Blushes were to be chosen in the cool shades particularly the rose family. Examples of cool blushes ranged from blue-pink to burgundy with the exception of clear red. Lipsticks were to be chosen in the cool shades particularly in rose tones. Examples of cool lipstick shades were pinks, plums, burgundies, (the plums and burgundies can also be brownish) blue-reds and clear reds. The reds could be used as a base for the other colors. If any of the lipstick colors turned blue; it was suggested to try a frosted lipstick. A lipstick brush or pencil was to be used to outline the lips. When buying a lipstick brush, one that a sable tip was suggested. Eyebrow pencils were to chosen in the cool shades. Examples of eyebrow pencils in the cool shades were charcoal brown, or the ones with grayish and/or taupe tones. Eye shadows were to be used in powder form. If using crayons, a creamy crayon was recommended. Massive Weight Loss Causes “Turkey Waddle” for WLS Patients

By Kaye Bailey A friend of mine who recently lost nearly 150 pounds after gastric bypass was sharing her excitement with an acquaintance. She was excited because all symptoms of her Type II Diabetes were gone and she no longer takes any medication she feels healthier than ever in her life. Then the acquaintance, a life-long skinny-minny, burst her bubble, But doesnt having that turkey neck bother you? You know, all that wrinkly skin just hanging there? What a cruel world. My friend was crushed. It is true, she has a turkey neck. Most people who lose massive weight will have a saggy wrinkly neck so kindly referred to in the cosmetic surgery profession as turkey waddle. A saggy neck is a small price to pay for better health and wellness. Even so, we want to look our best after weight loss surgery and having someone draw attention to this residue of our obesity is disheartening. There are some surgical options to tighten then neck skin: A neck lift is actually a set of procedures used to enhance the appearance of your neck: Cervicoplasty is the procedure used to remove excess skin Platysmaplasty removes or alters neck muscles A plastic surgeon also can perform neck liposuction, which removes excess fat. In some cases, Botox injections may be the answer to your problems if you have fullness or “bands.” A neck lift was out of the question for my friend, so we did some research and found a more holistic approach that yielded some improvement. From Bharti Vyas book, Beauty Wisdom we found the following advice: Give your neck a weekly massage Hold your head in proper alignment imagine that your head is being pulled upwards by a piece of string attached to the crown Cleanse your neck night and morning the same as you do your face, starting at the collarbones and working up to the jawline. Apply a rich-moisturizing cream at night and moisturize with sunscreen during the day. Cover front and sides of neck and the area around the collarbones. Exfoliate your neck weekly. For crepey neck, apply almond oil as a nourishing moisturizer. Ms. Vyas also recommends some simple exercise to tone neck muscles (and *Bonus* these are wonderfully relaxing): Hold your head in a central position, then lean it as far over as you can towards one shoulder and hold for a count of 10. Your neck may feel rather stiff to begin with. Repeat on the other side, making sure that your shoulders remain still and relaxed throughout. Do five repetitions. Keeping your chin level, turn your head to one side so that the chin is over your shoulder. Incline the head backward in a come hither movement. Repeat on the other side. Repeat the sequence five times. My friend follows these practices faithfully. Her neck is not flawless, but to me its beautiful. She has collarbones and a chin and a beaming smile on her healthy face. Copyright 2005 Kaye Bailey - All Rights Reserved.
