Cheese Serving Guide

By Shauna Hanus Cheeses come in a wide variety of flavors, textures, and types. Gone are the days of un-wrapping a slice of American cheese placing it on white bread and calling it a meal. Todays specialty markets make it easy to serve gourmet cheeses as an appetizer, desert, or as a simple course in a larger meal. When serving cheese never serve more than 5 varieties at a time. Vary the size, shape, flavor and texture of the choices to add interest to the selection. The tray you serve on should be a wooden board or marble slab. A silver tray with a wood insert can add elegance and glamour for a special touch. The tray should never be crowded, and any bread or fancy crackers should be served separately. Separate utensils and trays should be used if the cheeses have strong or distinctive flavors. Mild varieties will pick up the flavors and aromas of stronger cheese. Coupling the cheese with fresh fruit or thin sliced onions gives added interest and texture and makes for an appetizing arrangement. Always remember to slice all the accompaniments in bite size pieces. Cheeses can be served as a very elegant desert a light course after the entre or as an appetizer. When using cheese as an appetizer, choose a light meal because cheese can be filling. The temperature of your cheese will make a difference in how it taste. When served at room temperature cheese displays more of its natural flavors and characteristics. By leaving the cheese out for 30 minutes before serving the cheese will reach its optimum temperature. Market your book to your number one market first, and then go after the secondary markets. Try giving away one of your books in a raffle at a local function to get more book recognition. Get as many testimonials about your book, as possible, from experts in the field relating to your title, not customers; use on your fliers and back of books. Secret Marketing Plan

Save Your Marriage

By Mark Southy If you saw the emotional turmoil portrayed in the movies War of the Roses and Kramer vs. Kramer, youd probably think twice about divorce. Unhappy individuals who believe that ending their marriage would make them happier are often living a myth. Chances are that theyve attributed the failure of the marriage to their spouse, dispensing with self-examination. Blaming the other instead of oneself becomes the favorite pastime, the most convenient means to walk away. By failing to accept their own frailties, and not realizing that theyve entered the marriage with unreasonable demands and unrealistic expectations, they unconsciously released the forces leading to a potential separation. Theres also the phenomenon of short memories. For some reason, the same individuals who vowed to support each other during their time of wedded bliss have forgotten their commitment and vows to love each other through thick and thin. Our modern society has indeed become a disposable society. This is what Alvin Toffler had predicted almost two decades ago. This state of disposableness is reflected in our ability to DELETE and PURGE and SHRED what we no longer need. And when our once beloved partner is no longer of use to us, we call our lawyer and instruct him/her to initiate divorce proceedings. Funny, but despite its harrowing and complex web, divorce has also become just a phone call away, a to go solution that we can pick up on the way to cleaners. Truth is, is that divorce has an ugly side to it. Its the easy way out for people who have not an ounce of courage to salvage what deserves to be salvaged. Divorce un-builds and undoes what took years to nurture, and sadly, often the only people who benefit from it are greedy lawyers who will use every trick in the book to divest the other of assets, until no remnant of the persons investment physical, monetary and emotional remains. While divorcing couples spend their mental energies accusing the other of causing hurt and disharmony in the union, they forget that the children suffer in double triple dosages. Couples forget that the sentiments of children are more fragile and harder to mend. This is when the concept of human selfishness and self-centredness become transparent. Its odd how the true character of people comes out when theyre the actors in a divorce. The determination not to be swayed by the lows and downs of a relationship mirrors strength and integrity, not to mention the ability to see beyond ones personal unhappiness. The Instant Ewww Effect that Kills Attraction — And How To Avoid It!

By Maureen Arnold There is this hideous little four letter word in the dating game that will instantly KILL any attraction a woman might have felt toward you. Do you know the word? I bet you do. It is Ewww! The Ewww Effect, as David Deangelo has so eloquently named it, is a total attraction killer, and to be avoided at all costs by every man out there, whether he is just circling the waters for a date, or has honed in on a target and is ready to bait the trap! But wait! Before you go any further, let me relay a story to you that David D tells, because this is something that you have GOT TO KNOW before you go any further, today this minute! So take 5 and read on (And if this sounds familiar, dont worry, I have not named you!) Once upon a time, there was a man who was very attracted to a particular woman. At first, she was just another attractive woman… but the more he got to know her, the more he began to feel attracted to her… and the more time he spent with her, the more that attraction grew into a deep emotional attachment and affection for her. But there was one problem. As his emotional attachment grew stronger and stronger, he also grew more and more insecure. Why? Because he couldn’t tell whether or not she felt the same way towards him. Sometimes she would say things like “You are so important to me” and “I’m glad that you’re in my life”… but nothing ever progressed past the “friendship” stage. There was an occasional hug, an occasional kiss on the cheek from her… and once she even held his hand for a long time while he talked about an emotional issue. But something was wrong with the picture. She just wasn’t acting like a woman that was “falling in love”. She was acting like a friend. The insecurity that he felt became a spiral that amplified itself… and the more insecure he became, the more afraid he grew of “screwing things up” by kissing her or asking her to be his girlfriend. Plus, the more insecure he became, the less time she seemed to want to spend with him. After spending many days and nights obsessing over this girl, the man finally arrived at the conclusion that if she only knew how HE FELT, that she would feel the same way. So he made a bold move. He TOLD HER how he was felt. He confessed that he was in love, and that he would do anything to be with her. She looked at him with compassion in her eyes and said “Thank you… I really mean that… but I don’t want to mess up our friendship… you’re too important to me… This only confused the man more. He didn’t know how to take it… Did it mean that she really loved him too, but that she was afraid of something? Did it mean that she wasn’t ready for a long-term relationship? Did it mean that she didn’t love him, but that she was trying to give him a hint? Did it mean that he hadn’t tried hard enough? Did it mean that he needed to put everything on the line and REALLY let her know how he felt? He finally decided that he couldn’t go on like this anymore… he had to be with her. He had to make sure that she knew just how much he wanted to be with her… so he took a big step, bought her a symbolic gift, and wrote her a long, long letter… again confessing his feelings. And then the unthinkable happened. She didn’t reply. He called her three times a day for almost a week before reaching her. She made an excuse about being very busy, and said “I’ll try to give you a call soon, I have to go”… and hung up…but he never got a call back. Over the following months, the man tried desperately to understand what went wrong… and what happened. What a nice, heartwarming story, huh? Sound familiar? I know, let me guess, you are not that desperate. But in one way or another, we have ALL been there. One time or another, the Ewww! Effect has got us, and we got stuck in the friend zone, and then pushed out of the friend zone even because we wanted more. Why does that happen? It is ALL about attraction, my friend, all about ATTRACTION. As David D says, the Ewww effect is like hammering a railroad spike into the coffin of your relationship! Why do men keep doing the things that cause the Ewww effect over and over? Because they dont GET IT! Do you want to get it? I mean, really, do you WANT TO GET IT? (Ill give you a hint SHE wants you to get it, thats for sure!) The thing that most women know but most men dont is that there are certain traits that women are looking for in a guy. The surprising thing is that those traits dont have anything to do with whether or not you look like Brad Pitt or drive a Viper. Its all about the attraction and David Deangelo says it best when he says that Attraction Isnt a Choice! There are things a guy can do to up his attraction level to women by a HUGE amount, and David D tells you exactly what those steps are one by one. Try this on for size if you think about it from HER perspective, you’ll realize that the moment you do something to “confess”, you have created a TURNING POINT in the relationship. Up until that point, you were harmless. I mean, women always know how men feel. She already knew you wanted her. She knew it from the beginning. But now that you’ve started pursuing her and talking about how you feel, you’ve created a NEGATIVE TENSION that is VERY uncomfortable. You’ve triggered an emotion that is repulsive to women. And it does repel them. You can’t “make a woman like you” or “change how she feels about you” by doing nice things for her…Doing “nice” things for a woman who isn’t attracted to you HURTS you. It backfires. Worse, it creates the “Instant Ewww” feeling that makes it so she’ll NEVER like you. Men make this mistake over and over again in life because they’re doing what MAKES SENSE to them. They’re doing it because they don’t have an understanding of ATTRACTION. I mean, if you have a friend, and you like them, and you want to make them like you more…and you do some nice things for them, they will probably like you more. On the other hand…if you have a woman that you “like” in a romantic way and she doesn’t “feel it” for you, and you do something nice for her because you want HER to like you more, it will BACKFIRE… and she will not only NOT like you more, she will most likely distance herself from you. Guys think that they need to communicate when they like a woman… as if that’s part of the necessary process of getting a girl. In their minds, it goes like this: Like her -> Tell her you like her -> She likes you Well remember… if you follow this pattern yourself with women who aren’t ATTRACTED to you, then it’s going to BACKFIRE. If she’s not into you, then it goes like THIS: She thinks of you as a friend -> You tell her you like her -> She gets the “Instant Ewwws” and never wants to be around you again… THE ANSWER There are really TWO answers to this problem. The first answer is what to do if you’re in a situation where you like a particular girl, but you don’t know if she likes you back. DON’T GET HEAVY WITH HER. Don’t buy her a big gift and write a love letter…Don’t send her ten dozen roses to her work with a note that says, “From your secret admirer”. Don’t call her three times a day. And DON’T CONFESS YOUR LOVE for her. If you want to know how she feels about you, KISS HER (and use “The Kiss Test” that you can learn on my website and in my book). As a rule of thumb, don’t get heavier than HER. Use SIGNALS from her to find out how she feels…and if you don’t know how to read and create those signals, then LEARN. Asking a woman if she’s interested in you in a romantic way or if you are “her type”, will actually DESTROY the chances that she’ll like you. Really. The SECOND answer is: Don’t get into this particular situation in the FIRST PLACE. Avoid it entirely. And how does one do that? One does that by creating ATTRACTION from the beginning. One does that by understanding the dynamics of how and why women have the physical and emotional response of ATTRACTION triggered. One does that by knowing what you’re doing FROM THE BEGINNING. Career Change - Creating Wealth & Happiness

By Margaret Stead Whether you have a business idea or not, heres what I want you to do I want you to take a pen and paper and go and sit somewhere quiet in your home where you will not be distracted. Get comfortable. Take a deep breath and relax for a moment. Now I want you to write down everything you WANT in life. Thats right. Everything that you wish you had in your life. It might be a new car, a house with a walled garden, some new and beautiful clothes, a swim with the dolphins, an arctic cruise, new watch, the latest Laptop, whatever Just write it down. At least twenty-five things, but it could be twenty pages long. Spend some time writing down everything that you could want in this life and desire. You can also write down things that you WANT in your relationships with other people. Such as love. You can think about the kind of relationships you have with people. Do you surround yourself with people who: Make you feel better about yourself or worse about yourself? Tend to be stronger than you or weaker than you? Are in better or worse financial shape than you? Have more real friends than you, or fewer? Place a higher value than you on honesty, integrity and commitment? So write it all down. The next thing I want you to do is to write down all the things that you feel you NEED to do. Things that you would need to do or would like to accomplish. This can range from organising the carpet cleaner to writing your will. It could be that you need to visit your Mum or set up a new email account for your business. Write it all down. Things you need to do for your business and things for your personal life just write them all down. If you can get a good unconscious flow, going, so much the better. Dont worry too much about going into detail, you can do that at a later stage. Now I want you to take a new pad of paper and write down everything that you are GOOD at, problems you can solve, things you can do. It can be driving a car or organising a meeting. It can be fixing a tap or writing articles. Think of as many things as you can and write them down. (You can put reading for ideas, as one of them, you are reading this, after all!) Keep going until you have at least twenty five. After you have brain dumped everything you are good at, you need to write down things that you LOVE doing or are interested in. So for example you might love horses, travel, parachuting, socialising with friends, persuading people or using a computer. If you find that you enjoy doing just a few things, then list those things in more detail. So, for example, if you love reading, ask yourself What books exactly categories, titles, authors, genre/ Write all of them down, as many as you can. The final thing I want you to do is to write down all the business IDEAS that you have whether its ideas for creating new products, for your existing business, running some new promotion or new ideas for a business. Write them all down. You will find that putting together combinations of what you are GOOD at and what you LOVE doing, will inspire business IDEAS for you. This way you can be sure you have explored all your potential job preferences. After you have written down all those things that you WANT (both material and relationship), everything you feel that you NEED to do and all of the business IDEAS you have then you need to start transferring these to another writing pad. You are going to create a list of the top five WANTS, NEEDS, IDEAS and the ACTIONS you can take to accomplish these. Once you have identified the TOP FIVE items in each list of WANTS, NEEDS and IDEAS, you can list ACTIONS to take for each of them. This is an easy way of PRIORITISING what you need to do to accomplish first, then second, and so on until your last item is the last thing you should be doing when everything else is accomplished. You should now have a list of your five top job or business IDEAS. Now a really great way of deciding on which job or business idea you should start with is to take each IDEA on your list and RANK it out of 5 (5 is high) for 1) Your level of interest. 2) Your knowledge of the how to do the job. 3) Level of experience. Create a table like this and you will be able to see at a glance what you need to do in order to bring your skills and experience : Job Preferences Interest Knowledge Experience 1. Corporate Executive Coach 5 4/5 4 2. Training Consultant 5 3 2 3. Project Management Expert 5 3 4 4. Interim Management Agency 4/5 2 2 5. Online Pet Wholesalers 5 2 1 Its much better to do this exercise in writing and keep the list next to your computer so you can see it ALL the time. Now start with number one on your list of ACTIONS to take and when you have finished it strike it though with a pen. Some of your wants are obviously going to have to wait until you have the money for them. You will need to achieve your financial milestones with your business. But you will and then you can buy these WANTS along the way and strike them off your list as you go. After you have done this whole exercise of getting things down on paper, youll feel brilliant. Not only will it allow you to free-up your mind, so that you are no longer focusing on a hundred things at once, allow you to think more clearly but it immediately creates an ACTION list that you can immediately start accomplishing. Youll be surprised how fast you can get things done. The faster you get things done, the faster your business will grow and the faster you will be able to strike off those WANTS. New Year’s Resolutions for the Bachelor

Plus, these things can be really enjoyable and can open up new interests. 5) Always be reading something. You dont have to make your gruesome way through War and Peace, but you should always be reading something thats interesting to you whether its an independently published graphic novel or something from the bestseller list. My Miracle From Faith in God

Schuller “And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.” -Matthew 21:22, Holy Bible I have had many life miracles from faith in God, but I do have one that stands out in my mind… After we were told we could not have children biologically, we adopted our son as a baby. When he was four years old, my husband and I were pondering whether to adopt a second child. For those of you who do not know, the process of adoption can be very emotional, with a fear of rejection if you do not qualify for a certain requirement of the agency. Rules such as age, or already had adopted one baby, so can not get another, and so on, depending on the agency. We were not on the waiting list anywhere, with the exception of a place our pastor had told us about six months before we adopted our son. But, it did not seem promising. They had only acknowledged that they had received our application, but we had not heard from them since. My husband and I kept trying to think it through, and kept asking the Lord what he wanted, but could not see any clear direction. My husband told me that he was okay with either way, and that it was more up to me than him. We were on vacation at the time, and still I could not get any “for sure” direction. Finally I prayed, Lord if you want us to adopt another baby, let me know. I did not have any preconceived idea how he would do this, and kept it at that. When we got home, we had a letter in our mailbox from that agency, asking if we were still interested in adopting! Remember, it had been about 5 years since we had first applied. The miracle did not end there. Now there was all the paperwork, the scrutiny, the interviews, and waiting, to go through. Also, the agency was out of state. It took almost a year more. We finally knew we were approved, but did not know how long it would take. I remember a sleepless night on July 31. I had always prayed, Lord please give me a baby. But that night I prayed for the mother of the baby the Lord was bringing to me. I prayed she would have peace, and feel the comfort of God’s arms around her. We got the call, the agency had a baby girl for us, and could we get there within three days. Everything goes in fast motion and a blur at that time, and we got there. What I found out from the adoption worker when we were picking her up, “blew me away” The mother had no contact with the agency until ten days before she gave birth. She walked in off the street and said she wanted a Christian home for her baby. Our little girl was born on August 11. There are probably even more ways that God worked in this than what I am aware. Oh yes, there is one more. We were told that the agency had never done an adoption to our state, and they had tried three years previously, and first contacted the government agencies, and did not get any cooperation. They usually would not try again, but were just going through their files, and felt impressed to do so. This time they got all the cooperation they needed. Our little girl is 24 now, and is on a life journey. She is growing spiritually, and in maturity. But, whatever the outcome of anything in her life, or ours, one thing I am sure of is that God choose her for us. How to Squeeze More Profit Out of Your Customers!

By Robert Warlow Ask any small business owner to come up with ideas on how to market their business and they will say adverts, brochures, leaflets, direct mail etc. Whilst all these are great ways of promoting your business they all cost money! What if I could show you a better and more effective way of marketing your business? In this article I am going to share with you some key strategies to get more business and ultimately increase your profits. The biggest mistake businesses make is to focus all their marketing effort and budget on getting new customers. Research has shown that it costs up to 6 times more to get a new customer than to retain or sell to an existing one. And this is the key. Concentrate on selling more to your existing clients. Simple! Squeezing more profit out of your customer base is a cost-effective way of increasing your bottom line. So, lets look at the steps you can take to tease more profit from your client base. Paretos Law No doubt you have heard of Paretos Law? You may know it better as the 80/20 rule. In a sales context if you examine your sales pattern, you may find that 80% of your profit comes from only 20% of your customers. While the percentages may vary slightly, as a principle it generally holds true. Yes, it may come as a bit of shock to find out that most of your profit comes from a handful of customers, but armed with this information you can now create a plan to earn more profit! So, the first step to squeezing out more profit is to identify your top 20% profitable customers. Obviously, to do this you have to have a database, which keeps track of who orders what and how much. What? You dont? Keeping track of your customers dealings with you is essential. Get a database up and running today! The effort in setting this up and keeping it up to date will be quickly paid back. Get them buying more often Having identified your top earners, the next step is to focus on how you can get them to buy more frequently. Increasing their ordering frequency may sound a bit simplistic but thats the beauty of it it is! The trick works especially well if you are in the retail or supply business. The idea is to catch the customer in advance of them needing your product or service and offer it either before they know they require it, or before they go to a competitor. So how does this work? Lets take your customer Bodgit Ltd. You go through their purchasing history (from the database you have now set up!) and you see that every 6 weeks or so, they re-order. But some months there are gaps, suggesting that they may go to competitors on some occasions. Make a note in your diary for one week before you would expect them to order again. When the time comes, pick up the phone and say, Mr Smith, I imagine you must be getting low on widgets? Would you like me to send your usual amount or do you need more? Wow thinks Mr Smith, This company is sharp! Result? One happy customer; an order that may have gone to your competitor comes to you; one extra cheque to bank! Have a think about how you can apply this technique to your business. Try it out. Increase the average order value As well as getting your customer to buy more often, why not get them to spend more? They may be buying one product from you, but a complimentary product, which you also supply, from a competitor. Be bold; ask him for a bigger share of the pie! Try to resist cutting your margins to secure a deal but instead, see if you can tailor the product to meet his needs. Can you change your delivery system? Can you provide better after-sales service. Explore all these avenues to see how you can get more business. If you do have to cut your margins, work out how much overall extra profit you will get if the average order value goes up. If you have an extensive range of products, you may be surprised to find out that some of your customers are not aware of the full extent of your range. Part of your strategy to squeeze out more profit should be to ensure your customer knows what you sell! When did you last call with your customer with the sole aim of chatting through your range of goods or services? You could be amazed by how little they know! Talk to them Too often the only contact a business has with its clients is when they receive an order. The customer hears nothing until the next order is sent in. To get your profitable customers to do more business, find any excuse you can to talk to them. Make an effort to contact them on a regular basis. Ask them what they want from you? What do you have to do to increase business with them? Would a new addition to your line fit in with what they want? Question, question, question! Even if nothing comes out of your conversations immediately, at least they know you are interested in them. This all builds loyalty to you and your business. Love them! As well as taking the time to pick up the phone and ask for more business, why not just call to say hello? A call to check levels of service, and to see if everything is okay, can still reap benefits. If you spot something in a magazine or newspaper linked to one of your customers line of business, cut it out and write a note Saw this and thought it may be of interest to you. A simple thing, yet it shows they are important to you. Referrals As well as aiming to get your existing customers to give you more business, why also ask them to introduce you to one of their business contacts? This way you leverage more profit out of them by tapping into another business all without spending a penny on advertising! Referrals can be very powerful. They carry the stamp of approval for your business from the referrer. This is a great example of squeezing profit out of your customers. Dont ignore the others By concentrating on the top 20% of your customer base you could be danger of losing a potential diamond hidden in the other 80%. Set some time aside to develop this part of your business. Go through your database and select a few customers who you think, with a bit of courting, could become a 20% business. Put a plan in place to woo them! Squeezing more profit out of your customers can be done. It takes planning, effort and a little cheek! Its about building and strengthening the relationship, so they enjoy doing business with you. Dont take them for granted and watch your profits grow!
